Dyslexia and Language Processing overview.
Assessments and therapy use Johansen Individualised Auditory Stimulation.
This program involves listening to individually customized music CDs for 15 minutes a day on a personal stereo system with good quality headphones. The music is pleasant and most children enjoy listening while doing other quiet activities.
The music is specially synthesized to stimulate the nerve pathways into and within the brain, in particular the language processing in the left hemisphere, thus improving language processing abilities.
Concentration, discrimination, phonemic abilities, and language processing speed are all enhanced. Students usually experience marked improvements in reading and writing skills.
